My name is Lynden Hoge (but I usually go by Lyndee). I am currently a junior at the University of Oklahoma studying linguistics. As a linguistics major, I am required to have experience with multiple languages. As such, I am pursuing a minor in Russian. I am also pursuing a minor in Computer Science. As an OU student, I am a Global Engagement Fellow, a participant in Russian Club, and a member of the St. Thomas More parish just off of campus.
Previously, my only experience abroad was a much too brief trip to the British Isles, but for the Fall of 2019, I am ecstatic to say that I am studying abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia! While I’m here, I hope to improve my Russian language skills, maybe even achieve some level of fluency, and grow in understanding of Russian history and culture. St. Petersburg is such an amazing city with so many opportunities to grow and learn as a student and a person. I’m so very excited for the coming months in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
The future can be frightening in all of its uncertainty, but in the words of OU’s first president, David Ross Boyd, “What possibilities!”
